Doctors Speak is a new translation technology aimed at improving patient health literacy. Using a tablet, patients can use this technology in clinic waiting rooms to translate ‘doctor speak’ to common language (three different levels of translation). Doctors Speak is currently
focusing on cardiology – the content covers a broad spectrum of conditions, diagnostic tests, treatments, and consequences of patient participation in their health. A goal is to influence patients’ health beliefs and improve outcomes such as medication compliance, and 30-day hospital readmission rates.
Doctors Speak is offering clinics the product
free of charge for a 3-month trial period in exchange for feedback on usability, patient engagement, and health literacy specific to our content. The product is used by patients in the waiting room and they are able to save their translation sessions and access them online at home. Tablets are available on a rental or loan basis for clinics.
