Safety Net Clinic Week Recap!

Safety Net Clinic Week 2013 was a huge success! There were a total of ten site-visits with policy makers and 7 open houses. A big thank you to our Safety Net Clinic Week 2013 Coordinator, Amber Burkhart, who returns to Colorado College for her senior year next week! ClinicNET enjoyed having her with us for the summer! We will miss her!

Safety Net Clinic Week 2013 Kicked-Off!

We kicked-off Safety Net Clinic Week 2013 yesterday at Doctors Care! Katherine Blair from the Governor's Office presented us with a proclamation for Safety Net Clinic Week from Governor Hickenlooper. Thank you to Kaiser Permanente Colorado and COPIC for their support of Safety Net Clinic Week 2013!

SAFETY NET CLINIC WEEK (Aug. 19th-23rd) is almost here! Many safety net clinics are preparing for their open houses and site-visits. Is your clinic hosting a site-visit with your state legislators, city council and/or county commissioners? If not, it is not too late! Use our Safety Net Clinic Week Invitation and send a personal invitation today. In addition, make sure to utilize the Social Media Templates to help get the word out about your clinic and Safety Net Clinic Week via Facebook and Twitter! Also, watch out for "Safety Net Clinics Care" wristbands that will be coming to ClinicNET affiliates in the mail! To celebrate Safety Net Clinic Week 2013 and your amazing work, we ordered these in hopes of increasing awareness and generating conversation about Safety Net Clinic Week and the importance of safety net clinics in general.

SAFETY NET CLINIC WEEK "TOOL KIT"

In an effort to raise awareness of Colorado's health care safety net providers, we encourage your clinic to participate in the fourth annual Safety Net Clinic Week, August 19-23, 2013. Sponsored by ClinicNET and the Colorado Rural Health Center, the week is devoted to educating the public and policy makers about these vitally important health care clinics - Community Safety Net Clinics (CSNCs) and federally certified Rural Health Clinics (RHCs.) We have created a “toolkit” to help clinics participate in Safety Net Clinic Week 2013. Included in the “toolkit” are many easily customizable pieces, click on each to open:

• Short Overview of Safety Net Clinic Week (use as content for your website, blogs, social media, newsletters, email signatures...)
• Safety Net Clinic Week 2013 Logo 
• Sample Letter to the Editor (for submission to your local media
• Governmental Proclamation or Resolution (request a proclamation from your city and/or county)

ClinicNET and the Colorado Rural Health Center have requested a Proclamation of Safety Net Clinic Week 2013 from the Governor and we will be disseminating a press release statewide announcing Safety Net Clinic Week. Additionally, we will be extending invitations to the Governor, our Congressional Delegation, and all State Legislators to visit safety net clinics in their district during Safety Net Clinic Week. Safety Net Clinic Week, AUGUST 19-23, 2013!

To jump start preparations for Safety Net Clinic Week 2013, ClinicNET and the Colorado Rural Health Center sent out “Save the Date” postcards to Colorado's Congressional delegation, State legislators and other key Colorado community members. 

Highlights from last year's Safety Net Clinic Week included 14 clinic site-visits with elected officials, governmental staffers, and candidates for office. 5 clinic open houses, and 5  governmental proclamations!  Clinics that participated last year said that site-visits and open houses were a great way to build relationships, increase awareness of services, highlight the importance of clinics, and acknowledge partnerships in the community.

How will your clinic celebrate Safety Net Clinic Week 2013?

Safety Net Clinic Week Project Coordinator, Amber Burkhart, is here to help you get the most out of the fourth annual Safety Net Clinic Week, August 19-23, 2013! Amber Burkhart is an upcoming senior at Colorado College, majoring in International Political Economy and minoring in Global Health. She is passionate about access to health care and has taken opportunities to advance her knowledge on the issue both nationally and internationally. She spent the last semester living in New Delhi and studying India’s public health care system. Amber is also a member of the health organization GlobeMed, which helps increase the visibility of health issues on the Colorado College campus. She is excited to join ClinicNET as their Summer Public Interest Fellow. 

Sponsored by ClinicNET and the Colorado Rural Health Center, Safety Net Clinic Week 2013 will illuminate the important role your clinic fills in Colorado’s health care safety net! Is your clinic interested in hosting public officials or business leaders for a site-visit? How about hosting an open house? Do you already have an event or activity planned that could be highlighted by Safety Net Clinic Week? Seize this opportunity to celebrate an aspect of your clinic such as your volunteers, new programs or services, and your successes!  Our Safety Net Clinic Week “toolkit” will be posted very soon!  The “toolkit” will include fact sheets, flyers, logo and templates for press releases, letters to the editor, invitations for site-visits, and governmental proclamations.
