“SBIRT & Introduction to Motivational Interviewing June 20, Anschutz Medical Campus
This FREE one-day course will introduce participants to SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment) and provide beginning skills for Motivational Interviewing (MI) which is integral to applying SBIRT in health care settings. Risky substance use is a factor in all aspects of health and wellness and addressing this topic is sometimes an uncomfortable process. SBIRT is proactive and preventive; screening everyone can identify substance use as a contributing factor to many medical conditions. SBIRT improves outcomes for chronic diseases, and can contribute to the wellness of patients. With a renewed focus on prevention in healthcare, alcohol screening and brief intervention is a piece of the future of healthcare. Taking little time, SBIRT is an opportunity to improve the health of patients. Lunch, materials and CE will be provided.
