Women's Wellness Connection Funding Opportunity

Women’s Wellness Connection (WWC) clinics provide breast and cervical cancer screening (clinical breast exams, Pap tests, pelvic exams and mammograms) to eligible women at more than 130 sites statewide and occasionally releases funding opportunities with the intention to increase the number of women screened for breast and cervical cancer in the state of Colorado. The WWC program is currently accepting applications for the Targeted Outreach Program (TOP) #2823. If you already receive funding, you do not need to apply.

Applications are due by 4:00 p.m. on June 10, 2016. Application documents and information can be found at www.colorado.gov/cdphe/wwc-funding.

“The Women’s Wellness Connection (WWC) program is currently accepting applications for both clinical services and care coordination funds. If you already receive funding, you do not need to apply. WWC Clinical Services: This program provides financial support to clinical services organizations to provide breast and cervical cancer screening and diagnostic services for uninsured and under insured women who meet WWC’s age, income, and lawful presence criteria as outline in the WWC Provider Toolkit.

Care Coordination: This program provides financial support to clinical services organizations to increase care coordination related to breast and cervical cancer screening for insured women who otherwise meet WWC’s age, income, and lawful presence criteria as outlined in the WWC Provider Toolkit.

WWC recruiting advisory board member

“The Women’s Wellness Connection (WWC) Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program (BCCSP) Advisory Board is requesting applications to fill one vacancy. Applicants who possess one or more of the following qualifications will be strongly considered:

• a representative with rural perspective - provider or other
• a representative with knowledge regarding health insurance, care coordinator and/or Medicare/Medicaid/Affordable Care Act
• a representative of the Eastern Plains
• a representative with a background with hard to reach women

Board member applications are evaluated and voted on by current board members. Newly selected Board members will serve three-year terms. The WWC BCCSP Advisory Board meets quarterly for three hours. Members of the Advisory Board shall serve without compensation but transportation and travel costs are reimbursed. Women’s Wellness Connection releases RFA for breast and cervical cancer screening

“The Women’s Wellness Connection (WWC) has released a Request for Applications (RFA) to fund additional organizations to provide breast and cervical cancer screening and diagnostic services for low-income, uninsured women in Colorado. Existing WWC agencies do not need to apply. Priority will be given to the follow organizations:

• Those serving special populations such as Latina/Hispanic and/or African American women
• Those able to serve counties where current WWC agencies are serving less than 30% of target population based on “WWC Percent of Target Populations Screened for Breast and Cervical Cancer FY2012-2013” map

State Women’s Wellness Connection now serving transgender women

“The Women’s Wellness Connection program at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment now provides breast and cervical cancer screening for transgender women.

Due to the efforts of Jennifer Blair, an advocate for transgender services, program guidelines have been revised. Program funds now can be used to serve transgender women who meet Women’s Wellness Connection eligibility requirements for free or low-cost mammograms and Pap tests for low-income women with little or no health insurance.

Emily Kinsella, Women’s Wellness Connection program manager, said, “Making this change is the right thing to do. Women’s Wellness Connection (WWC)

The mission of Women’s Wellness Connection (WWC) is to provide, promote and ensure quality breast and cervical cancer screenings for underserved women in Colorado and connect them to resources.  WWC provides free breast and cervical cancer screenings (clinical breast exams, Pap tests, pelvic exams and mammograms) to eligible women at more than 130 sites through cooperative efforts of multiple statewide providers, including federal qualified health centers, safety net clinics, local public health departments and non-profit organizations.

Program Eligibility:  Women’s Wellness Connection screenings are provided free to women who:

• Live in Colorado
• Are legal residents of the United States
• Are 40-64 years old
• Do not have health insurance or a deductible/co-pay significant enough to delay or prevent screenings
• Meet low-income guidelines (250 percent of federal poverty level or below)

• A representative with policy or advocacy experience;
• A medical provider (primary care or cardiovascular);
• A representative of an underserved community;
• A person working for an organization that is familiar with underserved communities;
• A representative from a northern or southeastern county. 

Members of the Advisory Board shall serve without compensation but transportation and travel costs are reimbursed. All applicants must submit a completed application with their resume by close of business (5 pm M.S.T.) July 5, 2013.
