It's Safety Net Clinic Week 2016!

Safety Net Clinic Week 2016 (August 15-19) is officially underway! We kicked-off the week last Thursday at Rocky Mountain Youth Clinics. Dr. Larry Wolk, Executive Director of the CO Department of Public Health & Environment, presented us with the Governor's Proclamation! The week has been filled with site-visits and open houses! Governor Hickenlooper proclaims August 15-19, 2016 Safety Net Clinic Week!

Today we will kick-off the 7th Annual Safety Net Clinic Week  (#SNCW16) with a celebration from 4-6pm at Rocky Mountain Youth Clinics, Thornton Clinic!

Still need help obtaining proclamations, outlining social media posts, promoting a open house or inviting local officials for a site-visit? Follow this link to the toolkit! Activities confirmed for #SNCW16 thus far include but are not limited to:

Monday, August 15th:
-Children's Hospital Child Health Clinic (Aurora) will host an Open House, 10 am -11:30 am, with State House candidates Dafna Jenet and Dominique Jackson visiting.
-Congressman Jared Polis will be visiting Fort Collins Family Medicine Center 
-Rep. Rosenthal will visit Jewish Family Services, Mental Health Program (Denver)
-Dream Centers Women's Clinic (Colorado Springs) will host an Open House, 3pm - 5pm

Tuesday, August 16th:
-Rep. Ginal and Sen. Kefalas will visit Fort Collins Family Medicine Center 
-DAWN Clinic (Aurora) will host an Open House, 4 pm- 6pm, with Mayor of Aurora Steve Hogan visiting

Wednesday, August 17th:
-Sen. Morgan Carroll will visit Rocky Mountain Youth Clinic (Aurora) 
-Sen. Crowder will visit Spanish Peaks Outreach Clinic (Walsenburg) and Samaritan Clinic (Trinidad)

Thursday, August 18th:
-Rep. Beth McCann will visit Inner City Health (Denver)
-Rep. Moreno will visit Neighbor Outreach of Colorado (Denver)
-SET Family Medical Clinics (Colorado Springs) will host an Open House, 4pm-6pm
-Kids First Healthcare (Commerce City) will host an Open House, 4pm-6pm, with Jerry Pifer from Congressman Ed Perlmutter's Office visiting   


Friday, August 19th:
-Rep. Esgar will visit Southern Colorado Family Medicine (Pueblo).
-Congressional candidate for office, Dr. Hans Hoccheimerwill, visit Fort Collins Family Medicine Center

Safety Net Clinic Week 2016 "toolkit" is ready to use!

It's time to start preparing for Safety Net Clinic Week (SNCW) 2016, August 15-19! We have created a “toolkit” to help clinics have the most successful SNCW possible. We also hosted a webinar on June 28 to walk clinics through the toolkit and talk about SNCW 2016; click here to watch the webinar!

Included in the “toolkit” are many easily customizable documents:

• Short Overview of Safety Net Clinic Week
• Safety Net Clinic Week 2016 Logo: use as content for your website, blogs, social media, newsletters, email signatures, etc.
• Sample Letter to the Editor: for submission to your local media
• Governmental Proclamation or Resolution: request a proclamation from your city and/or county
• Safety Net Clinic Week Invitation: consider inviting your city and/or county public officials, local businesses and community leaders to visit your clinic during SNCW
• Open House Invitation template: consider hosting an open house so folks can see and hear firsthand about the important work you are doing!
• Safety Net Clinic Week Fact Sheet: include with any invitation you extend and use, in addition to specific information about your clinic, as speaking points during SNCW

Meet the 2016 Safety Net Clinic Week Coordinator!

Sidharth Tripathi is a senior Biology major at Colorado College. Originally from Aurora, Colorado, Sidharth has a passion for health equity. Sidharth's passion for health equity stems from his involvement with GlobeMed at Colorado College , a student-run organization that fundraises and educates the local community about global health equity. Sidharth is passionate about health equity on both local and international levels, having just recently completed a one-month long internship at a health NGO in rural Kenya. Sidharth joined ClinicNET to help advocate for the important work safety net clinics do for their communities and in the state of Colorado. He is extremely excited for the potential impact he will have as the 2016 Safety Net Clinic Week Coordinator. 

A joint collaboration between ClinicNET and The Colorado Rural Health Center, the seventh annual Safety Net Clinic Week will take place from August 15th through August 19th. This is the perfect opportunity for community safety net clinics to educate their community and leaders about their role providing access to care to low-income, often medically vulnerable, Colorado residents. With the current evolution of health care, and potential unintended realities that come with such monumental change, the importance of highlighting the diversity of the health care safety net in Colorado cannot be overstated. Seize this opportunity to highlight an aspect of your clinic such as your dedicated volunteers, new programs services or partnerships; celebrate successes and highlight your work in our Colorado communities.  

A “toolkit” will be posted next week, so stay tuned! The “toolkit” will include fact sheets, flyers, logo and templates for press releases, letters to the editor, invitations for site-visits, and governmental proclamations.

In an effort to celebrate, support and raise awareness for Colorado’s health care safety net, the week is devoted to educating the public, policymakers and other community leaders about Colorado’s Community Safety Net Clinics (CSNCs).
