Materials from the 4/25 Safety Net Advisory Committee forum are now available

"Last Thursday marked our first SNAC Learning Lab of the 2013-14 season, and [Colorado Health Institute] couldn’t have asked for a better kick-off. Thanks to those of you who attended the forum on specialty care’s role in the Medicaid Accountable Care Collaborative (ACC) and the ACC Payment Reform Initiative (HB12-1281)...The Colorado Health Institute team has posted materials from the meeting here, and plans to post the first of its new series of proceedings, Food for Thought: Updates from the Safety Net Advisory Committee (SNAC), later this week...

We are developing two tracks this year. Track 1 focuses on the ACC. Track 2 focuses on broader issues of access to care. Track 2 kicks off Thursday, May 23 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at CHI. Aligning Incentives in Medicaid: How Colorado, Minnesota, and Vermont Are Reforming Care Delivery and Payment to Improve Health and Lower Costs

"Colorado, Minnesota, and Vermont are pioneering innovative health care payment and delivery system reforms. While the states are pursuing different models, all three are working to align incentives between health care payers and providers to better coordinate care, enhance prevention and disease management, reduce avoidable utilization and total costs, and improve health outcomes. Colorado and Minnesota are implementing accountable care models for Medicaid beneficiaries, while Vermont is pursuing multipayer approaches and moving toward a unified health care budget. This synthesis describes the common drivers of reform across the states, lessons learned, and opportunities for federal administrators to help shape, support, and promote expansion of promising state initiatives. It also synthesizes strategies and lessons for other states considering payment and delivery reforms. [Webinar] Payment Reform and More Integrated Delivery

"The National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP) is pleased to announce “Laying the Groundwork in States for Payment Reform and More Integrated Delivery,” a webinar on January 3, 2013 from 2:00–3:15 pm ET. This webinar will examine how states can promote multi-payer delivery system and payment reforms and work with the private sector to foster more integrated delivery systems. John Colmers, Vice President of Health Care Transformation at Johns Hopkins, and formerly Secretary of the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, will discuss policy levers and opportunities that are available to states.  Reactors from three states will kick off the discussion.
