Request for Applications for 2016 Breast Health Projects Released by Susan G. Komen Colorado

“Susan G. Komen Colorado will award Community Grants to eligible local non-profit organizations to provide breast health and breast cancer projects to individuals in the Affiliate’s service area between April 1, 2016, and March 31, 2017.  For the 2016-2017 grant cycle, Komen Colorado will accept applications that address one of the funding priorities and fall into one of the following funding categories:

1. Community Health Worker
2. Screening/Diagnostics
3. Treatment

Komen Colorado funds an array of breast health and cancer services that together create seamless systems of care for the following target communities:  Hispanic/Latina women; Women in Rural Northeast Colorado; Women in Resort and Mountain Towns in Clear Creek, Eagle, Garfield, Gilpin, Park, Pitkin and Summit counties; Medically Underserved Women in Front Range counties.

Komen Colorado released request for applications to fund breast cancer projects

“Susan G. Komen Colorado announces a Request for Applications to fund breast health and cancer projects to be completed April 1, 2015 - March 31, 2016. Applications are due by 5 p.m. MT Nov. 17 for breast projects that provide the following services to medically underserved communities in Komen Colorado's 22-county service area:

• Screening and diagnostics
• Treatment
• Non-medical patient support
• Breast health education and patient navigation

All organizations interested in applying for funding must attend one of two applicant training webinars scheduled for Friday, Oct. 3, 9 - 11 a.m. and Friday, Oct. 22, 9 - 11 a.m. RSVP to Juliana Wierimaa at jwierimaa@komencolorado.org or (303) 744-2088 ext. 314.” [Source: COPrevent]

Rural Emergency Responders Initiative
The Rural Development, through its community facilities program, provides funding for the Rural Emergency Responders Initiative to specifically strengthen the ability of rural communities to respond to local emergencies. The community facilities program funds are used to support rural emergency responder efforts by financing needed equipment and services. For more information, click here.

Respite Care Funding
The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America is offering grants to help alleviate the cost of respite care for families caring for loved ones with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia. Funds may be used for in-home care, adult day programs or other types of respite. For more information, click here.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure Community-Based Grants
Funding for breast cancer education, screening and treatment projects. Applications accepted on an ongoing basis. For more information click here.
