Friday, November 4, 2016  ~  Marriott Denver West, Golden, CO  

Celebrate the positive impact of the Colorado Health Service Corps (CHSC) and the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) have on improving access to health care.  The importance of the primary care workforce will also be highlighted, including Corps members, health professional students and safety-net clinic sites.

New this year is a day of free training opportunities before the evening awards reception. Trainings are open to all regardless of participation in CHSC or NHSC. This includes health center staff, medical residents, and health professional students of all levels and specialties. Register here and see course descriptions and session times.

Training topics include:

• Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC)
• Cavity Free at Three
• Diabetes Prevention
• Immunization Policy and Practice
• Tobacco Screening and Intervention

The evening reception (6pm – 8pm) will be a celebration and networking opportunity with speakers, food and beverages, and awards to outstanding CHSC and NHSC participants and alumni. Nominate a CHSC, NHSC or NURSE Corps clinician, or a Colorado health professions student who embodies the mission of the Corps: To build healthy communities by supporting qualified health care providers dedicated to working in areas in Colorado with limited access to care. Nomination deadline is close of business on October 7, 2016.

2016 National Health Service Corps Site Application Now Open!

The 2016 NHSC New Site application cycle is now open for eligible health care sites. The application cycle will close on June 7, 2016, at 11:59 p.m. ET.  Interested sites are encouraged to read the 2016 NHSC Site Reference Guide for all program requirements. Eligible sites include health care facilities that provide outpatient, ambulatory and primary health care services (medical, dental, and behavioral) to populations residing in high-need urban and rural areas.

2015 National Health Services Corps site application opens March 31 & check out ClinicNET’s recorded Loan Repayment and Provider Recruitment webinar!

The 2015 National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Site Application cycle opens on Tuesday, March 31 for healthcare sites that have never been approved as an NHSC site.  The benefits of becoming an approved NHSC-site are many including access to NHSC Loan Repayment and Scholarship Program providers who are currently seeking employment at NHSC-approved sites.  Sites can also utilize the NHSC Jobs Center, where NHSC-approved sites post job openings and site profiles to attract the attention of more than 17,000 unique visitors each month.  In addition, NHSC-approved sites can participate in NHSC Virtual Job Fairs, which provide NHSC-approved sites the opportunity to recruit providers in a cost effective manner since interaction is facilitated online via the internet and phone.

When the cycle opens on March 31, facilities will submit an NHSC Site Application through the Bureau of Health Workforce Program Portal. Below are several resources potential NHSC site applicants may find helpful:

NHSC-approved sites are healthcare facilities that provide comprehensive primary (medical, dental, and behavioral) healthcare services to populations residing in Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs). “News for National Health Service Corps and Colorado Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Programs; do not miss this opportunity to offer loan repayment to your providers!

National Health Service Corps (NHSC) 

• Application cycle for sites to apply to become eligible for their providers opens next week! The cycle will be open from September 3 to November 1. 
• You can view all the rules, see if you are eligible and find the application here. 
• Providers are able to apply once a year, these dates have not yet been announced for FY2014 
• For those providers that applied for NHSC in 2013, awards will be sent out by September 30! 

Colorado Health Service Corps (CHSC) 

• Application cycle for sites to apply to become eligible for their providers to get loan repayment is year round, apply anytime!

2013 National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Scholarship Program application cycle is now open!

"We are happy to report that effective March 21, 2013 (today), the 2013 National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Scholarship Program application cycle is now open! The application cycle will remain open through May 14, 2013.  The Application and Program Guidance can be found on the NHSC Website and contains all of the program requirements and details.

Highlights of 2013 NHSC Scholarship Program:

•     The NHSC Scholarship Program removes the burden of overwhelming educational debt, allowing health professions students to pursue their passion for primary care and serving the underserved.
•     For each year of financial support (up to four years) a Scholarship recipient serves one year (minimum two years) in an NHSC-approved site in high-need urban, rural, and frontier communities across the nation.
•     Scholarship support includes tax-free payment of tuition, required fees, other reasonable educational costs, and a monthly living stipend (taxable).
•     All students applying to the program must be a U.S. citizen or national and enrolled or accepted in an eligible degree program at a U.S. accredited school in Medicine: MD or DO; Dentistry:  DMD or DDS; Nurse Practitioner (Adult, Family, Geriatrics, Pediatrics, Psychiatric, or Women’s health); Certified Nurse-Midwife; and Physician Assistant..."
