Financial Sustainability Calculator for Safety-Net Family Planning Centers
A new online tool created by the Guttmacher Institute will help safety-net health centers that provide family planning services assess their financial sustainability in an evolving U.S. health care system. Specifically, it will enable centers to estimate the extent to which they are maximizing reimbursement from Medicaid and private insurance.

CHOICE Contraceptive Counseling Webinar: January 7th
“Registration is now open for the CHOICE Project Contraceptive Counseling Webinar on January 7th! Provided by the Contraceptive CHOICE Project at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, the Contraceptive Counseling Webinar will teach non-clinicians and clinicians alike to deliver comprehensive, medically-accurate, non-biased contraceptive counseling.
The contraceptive counseling model was utilized in the CHOICE Project, a large cohort study of St. Louis women and their contraceptive choices. Among the results, the study indicates that contraceptive counseling can be effectively provided by non-medical staff and that women choose highly effective contraceptive methods when given accurate, comprehensive information and when cost barriers are removed.

Coding and Billing Workshops coordinated by The Family Planning Unit at CDHPE
“The Family Planning Unit at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment is working with RT Welter & Associates to coordinate three regional coding and billing workshops! The workshops will provide coding and billing information in a three-hour morning session, from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Although discussion will focus on family planning clinic-specific billing and coding, most of the information provided will be helpful for any health care clinic new to billing and coding. Topics include: the revenue cycle, billing basics, collections, diagnosis codes, evaluation and management (E & M) coding, ICD-10, and family planning clinical scenarios. Title X clinics receive priority registration; if a waitlist develops, non-Title X clinics may lose their registration spaces.
Clinic staff also have the option to sign up for a half-hour, one-on-one technical assistance session, offered between 12:30 – 3:30 p.m.

NEXPLANON® Clinical Training Program Offered October 17th
"Rural providers and advanced practice clinical staff attending the 22nd Annual Colorado Rural Health Conference, October 17-18, 2013 in Colorado Springs as well as other providers and advanced practice staff wanting to learn and be certified in NEXPLANON® (etonogestrel implant) insertion and removal are invited to attend a training on the evening of October 17th.
The training will follow the first day of the Colorado Rural Health Center Conference at the Hotel Elegante. There is no fee to attend the training, but space is limited and registration is offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. The training begins at 6:00 p.m. and is approximately three hours long. Dinner will be provided to registrants.
