Guest speakers include Karen Davenport from the National Women's Law Center, Renee Buteyn from Advocacy Denver, and Mirna Castro from Servicio de la Raza. In this webinar, participants will learn about the resources and tools necessary to talk to women about the co-pay free preventive services available to them through their health plans. The material focuses on the ACA’s key reforms for women and unique barriers specific populations face in accessing preventive services – namely those populations with intellectual and or developmental disabilities, adult dependents, and the Latina community. Proposed HHS Notice of Benefit and Payment Parameter, CoveredU.org, & Full Exposure Campaign

“Proposed HHS Notice of Benefit and Payment Parameter for 2016: The Department of Health and Human Services recently published a new proposed rule that will, if adopted in its current form, establish important 2016 Marketplace standards to improve consumers’ experience and affordable coverage.  The rule covers a large array of issues. Public comments must be received before 5:00pm on December 22, 2014. The Colorado Consumer Heath Initiative (CCHI) created a new website to direct users to either “How to USE your health insurance” or “How to SHOP for health insurance.” CoveredU.org is a great resource to get people started on understanding how to use their insurance through interactive scenarios where they can see how their health care decisions could play out. The Spanish version of CoveredU should be available next week at SeguroTU.org.

Taking lessons from current websites and campaigns like “Humans of New York”, CCHI’s new Full Exposure campaign tells the story of everyday Coloradans who are benefiting from health reform and are thankful for their coverage. This campaign will run on Facebook, Twitter and CCHI’s website through the end of open enrollment, February 15, 2015. New Infographic: Affordable Health Care for Immigrant Families

"Colorado Consumer Health Initiative has a new infographic that explains, in both English and Spanish, health insurance eligibility for mixed status families. It breaks down qualifications for financial assistance (tax credit, Medicaid, and/or CHP+) by monthly incomes.

This easy-to-follow infographic not only provides resources for lawful permanent residents, green card holders and refugees, but also provides resources to find nearby health services for undocumented immigrants. It also clarifies that when applying for health coverage, personal information will NOT be used for immigration enforcement. This can be a significant concern among many families and can be a barrier to getting health coverage. Click here to download both the English and Spanish version.
