AmeriCares provides free medicine, vaccines, medical supplies, and hygiene products to clinics that serve low-income, underinsured and uninsured Coloradans. To access AmeriCares product donations, your organization must apply to become a partner of AmeriCares U.S. Medical Assistance Program. There is no membership fee and all donated products are shipped to partner organizations for free.

AmeriCares recruiting medical & mental health professionals for the Ebola outbreak

“AmeriCares is expanding its Ebola response to include the staffing and operation of an Ebola Treatment Unit (ETU) in Liberia with our partner, the International Organization for Migration. Increasing the number of ETUs is a critical part of the strategy for Ebola treatment and containment. Click here to learn more.

We are hiring a team to operate the ETU and to teach others to do the same. It will include:

• Medical professionals (medical doctors and nurses, preferably with experience in infectious diseases)
• Water, sanitation and environmental health experts (including biological hazards, waste management and community-based hygiene promotion)
• Mental health professionals (psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers)

Prior experience in emergency contexts or under-resourced settings is desired. A minimum six-week commitment is required and includes in-country training time.  All positions are salaried. Donation of Flu Vaccine from Sanofi – Please Order with AmeriCares by December 20th

“AmeriCares recently received a donation of flu vaccine from Sanofi-Pasteur, and is making these vaccines available to free clinics across the county.  Product information for Sanofi’s intradermal FluZone can be found here.  Make sure to submit all requests by Friday, December 20th, 2013.  You can expect to receive the vaccine within a few weeks of submitting your requests.

How to Participate:

• Submit your request for flu vaccine, no later than December 20th.
• Create an account with AmeriCares.

Resources for Safety Net Providers from AmeriCares

“AmeriCares is a global health and humanitarian non-profit dedicated to responding to the needs of the health care safety net around the world.  In the US, we work with free clinics, FQHC’s and other safety net organizations to provide medications, vaccines and supplies to low-income, uninsured and underinsured patients.

Who is Eligible for Our Donations:  Patients under 200% FPL and uninsured or underinsured. Underinsured patients include those with Medicaid or Medicare without drug coverage or unable to afford prescription co-pays.

How to Become a Partner: Complete on online application. Go to their website and click on “Create an Account”

How to Access AmeriCares Donations: Once you are an approved partner, you can order their on-going donations of medicine, medical supplies and hygiene items by logging into their website.

Resources at SafetyNetCenter: In addition to donating products to safety-net organizations, AmeriCares also manages a website, www.safetynetcenter.org, which houses a collection of resources specifically for safety net providers and their patients.

AmeriCares Disaster Support for Safety Net Providers

AmeriCares U.S. Medical Assistance Program provides safety-net health clinics with donated medicine and medical supplies.

AmeriCares is a Connecticut-based humanitarian aid organization that delivers medicine and medical supplies to clinics and hospitals around the world in the United States. AmeriCares U.S. Medical Assistance Program provides safety-net health clinics with donated medicine and medical supplies. In the United States they distribute products to over 400 clinics, the majority of which are free and charitable clinics. Throughout the years they have cultivated relationships with over 200 pharmaceutical companies that donate medicines to AmeriCares on an ad hoc basis throughout the year. Their program is a good supplement to PAPs and samples. Through their online ordering tool, US Access, you have 24/7 access to their inventory, which is updated in real time. In addition to their donations program, this year they developed a website specifically geared toward free clinics with some applicability to charitable clinics.
