Training Opportunity: Foundational Anti-Oppression Concepts Using Theatre of the Oppressed

“We crave a fair and just world, and work to bring that world into existence in large and small ways.  To achieve what we seek, our efforts require both meaningful reflection and action.  We must understand the anatomy of oppression and injustice in our communities and society, and we must understand how we, despite our best intentions, personally participate in those systems.

Join us in a dynamic and energetic 2-day workshop using Theatre of the Oppressed as a basis for introducing and exploring foundational anti-oppression/social justice concepts. Click here to view the event flyer. In addition to a body-based exploration of power and privilege, participants will be introduced to a shared vocabulary, and come away with a deeper understanding of how oppression is composed of ideological, institutional, interpersonal, and internalized components (known as the 4 I’s of Oppression).  Participate in this consciousness raising opportunity that will better equip you to critically vision for your communities and for yourself.

Workshop is November 10th and November 11th, 9:00am – 4:00pm, at 22nd and Market Street, Denver 80205. Cost is $250, with a sliding scale available through registration link. Register here: http://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/2358246/98a8ca696823.” [Source: Transformative Alliances LLC]
