Deadline for Breast Cancer Grant Funding Requests

"This is a reminder about the following Requests for Applications that are now open to support breast cancer screening/diagnostic, treatment, and patient support services.

WORKSHOPS: October 23, 24 & 25 (locations vary), 2013
Applicant Workshops for Komen Denver 2014-2015 Community Grant Application. Komen Denver applicants who are not yet registered on Komen’s Web-based Grants eManagement System (GeMS) are required to attend a workshop before applying for a Komen Denver grant. If you are a current Affiliate grantee, you are not required to attend the Workshop, although it is advised to learn about changes to the Affiliate’s funding priorities and application components from prior grant cycles. Workshops will address:
  • Komen Denver Community Grants overview, timeline, eligibility
  • funding category & application narrative changes to RFA
  • best practices to gather gender identity information from clients for Komen Denver Data Outcomes Worksheet
  • using GeMS to apply for Komen Denver grants
RSVP required for all grant workshops to Susan Nakano atsnakano@komendenver.org; times and locations available under Community Grants tab, Step 3.

DEADLINE: October 30, 2013
Colorado Cancer Fund has released its Request for Proposals for the 2013-14 grant cycle. Applications will be accepted in the following areas: education, screening, and diagnostic services as well as efforts to improve the quality of life of people affected by cancer. This year, $40,000 will be available from 2012 taxpayer contributions with an additional $25,000 that will be dedicated to breast and women's reproductive cancers grants as the Colorado Cancer Fund evolved through the former Breast and Women's Reproductive Cancers Fund. DEADLINE: November 4, 2013
Komen Denver established the Technical Assistance and Capacity Building Grants Program to assist breast health and breast cancer organizations in increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of their programs. Nonprofit organizations implementing breast health and breast cancer programs can apply for technical assistance and/or capacity building grants for up to $5,000. These grants are not intended to supplement funds awarded through the Community Grants Program. Click here for more information.

Komen Denver has released its Request for Applications for funding of breast cancer projects for the 2014-2015 fiscal year through its website. Having raised more than $2 million during its signature Race for the Cure® event on September 30, 2013, Komen Denver invests 75% of net proceeds in its service area to help community members through programs offering breast screening, diagnostics, breast cancer treatment, patient-support services, and community health worker programs that connect medically underserved communities with life-saving care. Since its founding in 1992, Komen Denver has invested more than $32 million in local breast health awareness and breast cancer screening and treatment projects in the Affiliate’s 19-county service area of Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Clear Creek, Denver, Douglas, Gilpin, Jefferson, Larimer, Logan, Morgan, Park, Phillips, Sedgwick, Summit, Washington, Weld and Yuma counties.
