Health Routes: resources to teach about nutrition and develop collaboration

Healthy Routes is a group founded by CU Denver students to better the nutrition and health of communities through collaboration, advocacy and education.  It strives to connect patients, providers and producers to improve access and nutrition in Denver.

Fewer than 20% of Coloradans reach daily nutritional recommendations and the state is experiencing increasing rates of obesity and diabetes that lead to corresponding health issues such as heart disease and cancer.  Healthy Routes aims to provide access to healthy foods and education to change behaviors and perceptions with the ultimate goal of improving health.  The members of Healthy Routes will partner with local urban gardens and farmer’s markets to provide fruits and vegetable vouchers for each class the patient attends. The classes will cover nutrition, behavioral health education, cooking demonstrations, etc.

The registration information, location and time of the free four week class and more information about Healthy routes can be found at: Healthy Routes.” [Source: COPrevent]
