Connect for Health Colorado Explains Why You Should Have Health Insurance - Community Partners Update

"We now have new materials that you can download on our Partner Resources page, including a tri-fold brochure and a rack card.  Here is a piece that we encourage you to use in newsletters, blogs and other communications to your community to help provide education about the value of health insurance.

Why Should I have Health Insurance?
No one plans to get sick or hurt, but we all need to get treated at some point for an illness or injury, and health insurance helps pay these costs. Health insurance provides the security of knowing that you can get medical care when you need it. You can also get free preventive services, including cholesterol and diabetes screenings, to help you stay healthy and maintain your active lifestyle. Health insurance also helps you avoid very high medical bills that could threaten your financial future. Medical bills are the top cause of personal bankruptcies. In Colorado, the average cost of a knee replacement is over $23,000 and the national average cost of a 3-day hospital stay is $30,000. Why worry about your health and finances? Get covered. Connect for Health Colorado opens October 1 for health coverage that starts January 1, 2014.
